The Committee provides a platform for historical economists and economic historians to present and discuss ongoing work in the field. Every two years, the Committee organizes the German Conference of Economic and Social History jointly with the Society of Social and Economic History. Members of the Verein für Socialpolitik who hold a doctorate may apply for admission to the Committee.

Der Ausschuss bietet eine Plattform für historische Ökonom:innen und Wirtschaftshistoriker:innen, um aktuelle Arbeiten auf diesem Gebiet vorzustellen und zu diskutieren. Alle zwei Jahre veranstaltet der Ausschuss gemeinsam mit der Gesellschaft für Sozial- und Wirtschaftsgeschichte die Konferenz für Wirtschafts- und Sozialgeschichte. Promovierte Mitglieder des Vereins für Socialpolitik können ihre Aufnahme in den Ausschuss beantragen.
